Context: The risk of catastrophic expenditures on health in China is constraining the ability of its population to spend with consequent negative impact on the economy during the financial crisis. The situation in China and Pakistan vis-à-vis the financial crisis is not comparable; notwithstanding, there are important reasons for drawing this analogy for the health and broader social sector.

Provincial consultation on the draft

November 06, 2008: The first consultation on the draft of the Report entitled ‘Synergizing Population and Health in Pakistan’ was held at Avari Hotel, Lahore.
Context:  the meeting was chaired by Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro Director for Population and RH program Packard Foundation. The purpose was to build consensus on the draft report through mutual consultations. The participants included representatives of BRAC, AKU, The Pop Council, FALAH, Mustashar, PRSP, FPAP, Aurat Foundation, KE University, Shirkat Gah, Pakistan Society for Planned Parenthood, Packard, MoPW, Family Health International, Punjab PWD, and Friends of Health Care.
