Islamabad, May 6, 2025: Heartfile participated in a hybrid consultative meeting of the Technical Working Group on Tobacco Control, organized by the Tobacco Control Cell (TCC) at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C).
The meeting brought together government officials and provincial focal persons to discuss Tobacco Control Sustainability in Pakistan. Key agenda items included progress on the National Tobacco Control Strategy (NTCS), updates from provincial Tobacco Control Cells, and recommendations on taxation, pictorial health warnings, and tobacco cessation services.
Discussions underscored the importance of intersectoral collaboration and sustained enforcement for effective tobacco control. Concluding remarks reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) and reducing the health and economic burden of tobacco use.
