February 12, 2011: The World Bank has just released its south Asia report on NCDs—Tackling Noncommunicable Diseases in South Asia. The report highlights the magnitude of disease burden in Pakistan and stresses on the need to step up action to address this challenge. The enclosed comment uses the evidence-policy disconnect in relation to NCDs as a peg to highlight the magnitude of neglect in this respect and draws attention to some needed actions in this space.
