THE NEWS is the largest circulating English daily newspaper in the country reaching out to more than 2.5 million individuals all over the country and provides complimentary space for the Heartfile articles as part of the “THE NEWS-Heartfile Public awareness campaign against heart disease. The target group for this campaign is the English literate urban and rural population. Articles along with colored illustrations of the Heartfile Mascot and the logo lettering in red are posted prominently on a weekly basis in the inside front page. The style of the article varies from being a topic-oriented discussion on a specific aspect of a risk factor to an article generated in response to a particular question; in addition, stories and checklists are also published. Boxes are inserted in the articles promoting questions via e-mail whereas a check list repeatedly advocates healthier lifestyles. The campaign has been ongoing since February 1999 and at the time of the last update of the website 230 articles had been published.
