April 1, 2020 – Islamabad: Through Radio Pakistan’s program, ‘Raabta’, Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation apprised listeners that Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has launched the Rs.144 billion Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program for poor families and daily wagers who need financial aid due to coronavirus lockdown, as many people are out of work. The Special Assistant to the PM said that those in need can send send their national identity card numbers on the SMS code 8171, which will be activated today in the evening. She guided listeners step by step on the application process for the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program to make it easier for everyone. Under this program, people will be eligible for a Rs. 12,000 cash grant to help them cope with the current financial constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown being observed.
