August 16, 2020 -Islamabad: Harvard Pakistan Forum (HPF) was held on August 13-16, 2020 virtually. The conference aimed to provide a platform for better understanding Pakistan’s socio-economic context. SAPM Dr. Sania Nishtar was invited to join the panel discussion on COVID-19 and Pakistan’s Domestic Economy. The panel discussed the most immediate concerns of domestic businesses, credit constraints, change in compensation policies, adapting to a world with social distancing. The discussion also focused on the segments of the labour market most prone to the economic consequences of the virus and steps, different stakeholders can take to help. Dr. Nishtar highlighted details about the digital ways adopted under Ehsaas programme to provide for basic needs of the vulnerable & mitigate against more permanent economic consequences of COVID-19. In this engaging panel discussion, Dr. Nishtar was joined by Hammad Azhar, Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Omer Ahmed, CEO of Artistic Miliners, Naz Khan, Head of Strategy at KE and Shehryar Bakhsh, CEO of HKB.
