Islamabad | September 4, 2025 – A tobacco awareness session was conducted at Islamabad Medical and Dental College to educate students and faculty on the emerging risks of New Tobacco and Nicotine Products (TNPs) including e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and oral nicotine pouches.
The session specifically targeted medical and dental students, highlighting the health hazards associated with TNPs and their growing prevalence among youth. Participants were sensitized about the deceptive marketing strategies used to promote these products as safer alternatives to conventional tobacco.
The awareness program equipped future healthcare professionals with evidence-based knowledge to effectively counsel patients on TNP-related health risks and counter industry misinformation. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to address the growing challenge of TNPs in Pakistan’s tobacco control landscape.
